1) An Update on NCHERM Happenings and Activities

  • The NCHERM/MAGNA Online Course, Campus Safety 101, will be available at the end of August.  This 6-lesson course is designed to help faculty and staff to manage concerning and disruptive student behavior.  For details, please visit MAGNA Publications.
  • Our August 13th webinar, The Clery Act – Five Things Every Student Affairs Administrator Must Know, had over 1,000 participants.  This webinar is available now on CD from MAGNA Publications.
  • BIT, BAT, CARE, RABIT, SIT, KUBIT, TAT, UBIT, RAT, SUIT, CMT, TABI, CAT – alphabet soup?  No, these are the names that campuses are giving to their behavioral intervention teams.  Have a new name to add to the list?  Let us know.  Many of you requested that we create an online resource for behavioral intervention, and we have responded with the CUBIT Model section of our website, offering a wealth of free resources, articles, training materials and sample forms for your team.

UPCOMING INSTITUTE

Over 500 people have attended the NCHERM Behavioral Intervention & Threat Assessment Institutes held since December 2007.  Our next Institute has been scheduled:

NCHERM Institutes feature a faculty of experts and a 100 page set of materials.

3) NCHERM Schedule of Campus Visits

NCHERM consultants are already scheduled to visit 60 campuses this fall. Perhaps they might visit your campus if they’ll be nearby? View our schedule of campus visits. To schedule a visit, please contact Kate Halligan, NCHERM’s Director of Client Relationships at (610) 579-3725 or kate@ncherm.org

4)  Recession-Friendly Retainers

We can let the economists and politicians debate whether we are really experiencing a recession.  Regardless, campuses are beginning to feel the pinch, and we are adjusting our retainer program to help meet your needs in an environment of potentially more limited resources.  As a more recession-friendly alternative, NCHERM is now offering three retainers that include only off-site consultation, and start at an affordable $5,000 per year.  With our recession-friendly retainers, you’ll have access to our expertise by phone, email and fax any time you need it for an entire year.  View more details about the Recession-Friendly Retainers.

5) Free Article

As with every issue, we provide you with what we hope is a thought-provoking article.  Please use this link to access an article The Returning Veterans (PDF) that NCHERM Partner W. Scott Lewis, JD recently wrote.
